Sales Manager

Where are you from? If you are not from Shanghai, how long have you been here?

I'm from Shanghai. I've been living here and have never left.

What is your top spot in the German Centre Shanghai?

I like its environment most, fresh and quiet, which is really conductive to fully get engaged in your work.

What is your top spot in Shanghai – nightlife, restaurants, theatre, other…?

I like everywhere in Shanghai and prefer to sing karaoke, chat with friends at tea house and taste delicious food from around Shanghai in my spare time.

You chose the German Centre Shanghai as your place of work. Why? What’s your history with the German Centre Shanghai?

A fortunate coincidence, perhaps. I ever worked in a company near the German Centre and I often went here during lunch break. From then on, it has already left a good impression on me.

If you were an animal, which one would you like to be? Why?

Cat, I think. Personally I like cats. They're intelligent, smart and keen.

Your message to the readers?

To establish good relations with clients with a sincere, responsible attitude, to learn a lesson from failure and improve yourself in adversity and to be a positive person who loves life. Besides, to carry through doing a good turn.

Lydia Yang

LAR Process Analysers (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd.
Shanghai Office

Executive Secretary

Where are you from? If you are not from Shanghai, how long have you been here?

I was born in Shanghai and grew up here.

What is your top spot in the German Centre Shanghai?

I like the working conditions here.

What is your top spot in Shanghai – nightlife, restaurants, theatre, other…?

I like the bund. It's the symbol of the Shanghainese regional culture. Various international buildings were build here since hundreds of years and the lively modern atmosphere represents the individual character of Shanghai.

I also like Tian Zi Fang. I like the very “Shanghainese” Li Nongs there. Sometimes I feel like a part of the scenes when walking through Tian Zi Fang.

You chose the German Centre Shanghai as your place of work. Why? What’s your history with the German Centre Shanghai?

The company LAR chose the German Centre Shanghai and I chose the LAR. So … I’m here now.

If you were an animal, which one would you like to be? Why?

A cat! I like its independent character, lazy but very agile.

Your message to the readers?

The German Centre is my first working place after the graduation. I hope I can gain a lot of experience here through my studious working.

Carol Wang

GC Brasserie / Restaurant

Deputy General Manager

Where are you from? If you are not from Shanghai, how long have you been here?

I’m from Shanghai. I grew up here and really love this beautiful city!

What is your top spot in the German Centre Shanghai?

I like the working environment in the German Centre. An neat and clean environment can help people to get in a good mood.

What is your top spot in Shanghai – nightlife, restaurants, theatre, other…?

The bund. It's in downtown and beside the Huangpu River, one of the most famous tourist attractions in Shanghai. The view there at night is totally different from the view during the day. Both are so beautiful.

You chose the German Centre Shanghai as your place of work. Why? What’s your history with the German Centre Shanghai?

Our restaurant, the GC Brasserie, is located in the German Centre since November 2009. The best thing here would be the working environment. And the management teams here are very professional. Now the GC Brasserie is already here for more than 1 year. Therefore we have to thank all the tenants for their support. Thank you!

If you were an animal, which one would you like to be? Why?

A dog. It’s cute, friendly and very loyal.

Your message to the readers?

I hope that you can give us more concerning and supports. Your supports are the power for us to being better.

Lothar Sysk

VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH Shanghai Rep

Chief Representative

Where are you from? If you are not from Shanghai, how long have you been here?

I am from Erlangen, where Siemens has its headquarter. That is in Frankonia – in the north of Bavaria for those not so familiar with German regional names. Since 2001 I’ve been coming to Shanghai on business trips regularly during two or three week long trips to Asia. When VdS Schadenverhütung opened the Rep. Office in August 2007 I moved to Shanghai, so I’ve lived here for three years.

What is your top spot in the German Centre Shanghai?

My top spot in the German Centre is the big ballroom in the basement conference area by far. Why? Because that is where I met my lovely wife two years ago during the ‘Dance into the May’. Consequently, we held our wedding reception in the same place last month. My advice for all bachelors looking to meet a great lady: invite LOTS of people and rent the GC Ballroom! :-)

What is your top spot in Shanghai – nightlife, restaurants, theatre, other…?

My top spot in Shanghai is Pudong itself. Compared with the rather congested and hectic streets of Puxi (which admittedly still has the cooler nightlife options) the much more tranquil, green and less stressful atmosphere in Pudong with its wide streets simply makes me feel good.

You chose the German Centre Shanghai as your place of work. Why? What’s your history with the German Centre Shanghai?

VdS Schadenverhuetung did an extensive analysis of possible office locations and the German Centre came out tops with the great german/Chinese speaking GC Team with German management being a deciding factor to open our office here.

If you were an animal, which one would you like to be? Why?

I’d choose to be an Orca (a killer whale). Orcas are extremely intelligent creatures and the true rulers of the oceans. They are highly adaptable but consistent and learn fast while being graceful as well as powerful. They look beautiful, too and live in large pods with their families.

I was born in Ma Anshan. I have been in Shanghai since nearly 15 years.

I like the sunny green area, which is a good place for taking a walk after lunch.

What is your top spot in Shanghai - nightlife, restaurants, theatre, other…?

I prefer the Yan Zhong green area in Shanghai, where I spent a lot of time during my childhood.

You chose the German Centre Shanghai as your place of work. Why? What’s your history with the German Centre Shanghai?

I enjoy the working environment in Zhang Jiang, so I have moved to this area. It is a pleasure for me to work at the German Centre Shanghai.

If you were an animal, which one would you like to be? Why?

I’d like to be a fish, which does not worry about being eaten by big fishes and goes with the flow.

Your message to the readers?

hope German Centre Shanghai can organize more activities for tenants. So we may have chance to get to know more people to enrich our life.

Michael Shen

Proleit Automation Systems (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd

Where are you from? If you are not from Shanghai, how long have you been here?

Shanghai is my home town. I grew up here.

What is your top spot in the German Centre Shanghai?

The offices here are very spacious and the full glass curtain wall structure admits much daylight. I have also worked in another office building in Shanghai. Now I must say, it’s really an enjoyment to work in a big, bright office.

What is your top spot in Shanghai - nightlife, restaurants, theatre, other…?

If there is nice weather I just like to go to the parks in Shanghai at the weekends, like Century Park, Zhongshan Park or Luxun Park, to enjoy the sunshine, fresh air... And I always take my camera with me. I like taking photos.

You chose the German Centre Shanghai as your place of work. Why? What’s your history with the German Centre Shanghai?

Proleit is a company from Germany. We believe, German Centre Shanghai is an ideal location for german companies to get start in China.

If you were an animal, which one would you like to be? Why?

A bear. Because I just look like a bear… (laughs) Sometimes my colleagues just call me „bear“.

Your message to the readers?

I’m enjoying my days in the German Centre. I hope, you will also enjoy your days in the German Centre Shanghai.

Rachel Gong

Horst Mosolf GmbH

Project Assistant

Where are you from? If you are not from Shanghai, how long have you been here?

I am from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. Since 2000 I live in Shanghai.

What is your top spot in the German Centre Shanghai?

I like the working environment and working style in German Centre Shanghai.

What is your top spot in Shanghai - nightlife, restaurants, theatre, other…?

I think Shanghai is a very dynamic city. Normally I would go the shopping & entertainment area near the People’s Square.

You chose the German Centre Shanghai as your place of work. Why? What’s your history with the German Centre Shanghai?

My University Tongji has a lot of stories with German Centre Shanghai. There are used to be many activities in Tongji, which were organized by German Centre Shanghai. Thanks to the support of German Centre Shanghai we had the chance to know more about germen companies.

If you were an animal, which one would you like to be? Why?

Cat. I like the behaviour of cats which pursue the freedom and independence in life. Otherwise cats have different images, sometimes they are lazy, and sometimes they are delicate. I would like to become a kind of multi-faceted girl like a cat.

Your message to the readers?

I just begin my work here. I am full of expectation for my life in German Centre Shanghai.

Walter Chen

eBay (Shanghai) Co., Ltd

Where are you from? If you are not from Shanghai, how long have you been here?

I was born in Shanghai and grew up here.

What is your top spot in the German Centre Shanghai? You chose the German Centre Shanghai as your place of work. Why?

I’ve worked for 3 companies in 3 different office buildings in Shanghai. The German Centre is my favourite one so far. It’s new, it’s modern, and there is a great difference from the other office buildings – the German Centre is very spacious. That brings me always a good feeling. I think that’s also why there is much more fresh air in this building than the others. .

If you were an animal, which one would you like to be? Why?

Dolphin, I think. I like dolphins, and I hope I could be like a dolphin. It has a high IQ as well as a high EQ. And that enables the success.
